Extinct is the 1st episode of Season 1.

Synopsis

After a peaceful decade without incident, Mystic Falls is shaken by the brutal murders of a teenage couple. April Young, a Mystic Falls based private investigator, is tasked with finding who or what is responsible, and the investigation leads to finding that Stefan Salvatore, a vampire who was considered long dead, is actually alive. As Stefan wreaks havoc through Mystic Falls under the illusion that he's trapped in a hallucination, he and April end up in a dangerous confrontation that will change the stakes for everyone.

Dramatic music begins. Previously on The Vampire Diaries Stefan: (voice over) "I'm a vampire. And this is my story." Stefan: (to Elena, in graveyard) "I'm Stefan." Elena: "I'm Elena." Elena: "I love you, Stefan." Stefan: "She's the love of my life." Elena: "Any siblings?" Stefan: (to Damon, in Pilot) "Damon!" Damon: (as camera shows Katherine's picture) "She's dead ringer for Katherine." Stefan: (to Caroline, in The Rager) "You're so good at it, at being a vampire." Caroline: "Because of you, Stefan. Come to me, whenever you want. And I won't let you lose control." Damon: (to Alaric, in The Birthday) "Stefan. It's his signature. There's a reason they call him the ripper. Feeds so hard, he blacks out, rips them apart." Camera shows a quick compilation of Stefan attacking people. Stefan: (to Elena and Caroline) "It's the blood. The bloodline. Finn turned Sage, Sage turned Troy. They're all part of the same vampire bloodline that originated with Finn." Caroline: "Wait, so, when an original dies every vampire turned in their bloodline dies along with them?" Kol: (to Shane, in After School Special) "What do you know about Silas?" Shane: "He's the world's first immortal being." Silas: (to Bonnie, in The Walking Dead) "I can make you see whatever I want you to see." (in Caroline's form) "You have no idea who I am." (in monster form) "Or how deep I am inside your head." Bonnie: "Jeremy has a direct line to the other side." Silas snaps Jeremy's neck. Bonnie: "I can bring him back! -- Phasmatos raverus un animum!" Jeremy gasps for breath, Bonnie drops dead. Bonnie: (smiles) "It worked, Jer!" Jeremy: "You can't be dead!" Katherine: "It does bother me that you've fallen in love with someone else. -- I want you to stop seeing each other." Jenna stabs herself. Elena: (edited speech) "Katherine ruined our lives! I hate her so much!" Stefan: "Katherine's not worth your time. Even if you spend ten minutes of your life hating her, she wins." Elena: "Not if I kill her!" Katherine and Elena fight. Elena puts the cure in Katherine's mouth and breaks it. Katherine falls. Elena: "Have a nice human life, Katherine!" Stefan: (to Silas, at the quarry) "Silas! So this is finally your real face? You're another one of them?" Silas: (as Elena) "Not exactly." (camera shows his reflection on car, real Silas appears. It's Stefan's doppelganger) "Hello my shadow self!" Silas stabs Stefan, puts him into the safe, and throws it into the water. Stefan tries to get out, but he drowns. His daylight ring isn't on his finger anymore. Silas looks at the safe from above. Dramatic music ends.

Rock music enters. There was a school party at the lake. Some of the students were swimming in the water, while some were sunbathing at the beach. A couple of the guys were working on the barbecue. Some adrenalin junkies were climbing up to the quarry and jumping into the water while the rest cheered. Everyone were having a great time. A boy jumped into the water headfirst. And deeper he went, he realized something out of the ordinary. There was some rectangle shaped green thing at the bottom of the lake, most likely covered in moss, but definitely did not belong there. He tried to see better, but his eye sight wouldn't get better and he was running out of breath. He swam back up and took a deep breath as he reached the surface. The crowd relaxed upon this. Apparently they've been worried since he didn't come out for so long. He went out of the water and went straight near a girl, who was away from the rest, leaning to a tree with her shirt and shorts on. She looked elsewhere when she saw him, indicating she's not pleased at all to see him. Regardless, he came all the way near her. Adam: "Water's great!" Jane: "So I've heard." Adam: "You should be in it." Jane: (looked at him angrily) "If I wanted to swim, I would swim. I don't need your persuasion!" Adam: "Come on Jane, don't be like that. Give the guy a chance!" Jane: "I gave you a chance, you blew it." Adam: "Well give another chance!" Jane: "You blew that too!" Boy: "Okay, you're right. But just so you know, I'm changing the game. You know why? Because I've got a secret." (upon this she quickly looked at him, then forced herself to look elsewhere) "You don't have to pretend, I can tell you wanna know." Jane: "No I don't." Adam: "Then why're you not looking at me? You know, if you wanna know, all you gotta do is ask!" Jane: (slowly turned to him and gave her back to the tree) "I'm listening." Adam: (chuckled) "It doesn't work that way. You wanna know my secret, you gotta give me something in return." Jane: "What do you want?" Adam: "Another chance." Jane: "You're not getting it." Adam: "Come on don't .. You gotta give me something here!" Jane: (after a moment of silence) "Tell you what. If your secret is third deal worthy, you'll get it. If not, you're outta luck." Adam: (thought for a while) "Sounds fair." (came closer to her, and put his one hand to the tree. She quickly looked at the arm, as if she felt intimidated, but then looked at his face) "I found something. Underwater. I don't know what it is, but it looks much like it doesn't belong there." Jane: "And of all the people here, you're the only one who saw it?" Adam: "Because no one dives that deep. And those who do have their backs turned to it. Trust me, it's there." Jane: "Why should I even believe you?" Adam: (with a naughty smile) "The way I see it, the only way I can convince you is if you come with me and see for yourself." Jane: "And that's the thing, isn't it? You just wanna see me in my bikini." Adam: "And wet, but, more to the point, there is something down there. And you're the only person here who has a diving tube in her trunk, which would give us enough time to go down there and see what it is!" Jane: "Us?" Adam: (with a naughty smile) "Well you can lend it to me. I'll make sure to return it as soon as I can." (she smiled with disapproval. He caught it) "Looks like we have a deal!" Jane: "And what if it's nothing?" Adam: (looked unhappily) "Then I'll leave you alone." Jane: (surprised) "For good?" Adam: (nodded) "For good." Jane: (smiled) "I'll get the tube. In no time they both dived into the water and swam all the way down, until they reached to the green object, which was now clear to be a human sized green safe, covered in moss so much that one would think it's been there for years. Adam looked at Jane with a proud smile, and she returned it. They quickly grabbed the knob and tried to turn it. Camera phases into the safe, showing a mummified person, Stefan, as a dramatic music enters and stops. Suddenly the knob broke, and Adam and Jane looked at each other. Realizing they cannot open the safe now, they swam back to the surface. Adam: (removed his diving goggles) "Did you see that!? Whoa!" Jane: (cheerfully) "What was that?" Adam: (looked at the safe's direction) "I don't know, but it should be good!" Jane: "I can't believe this!" Adam: "Now that we know I was right, can we talk about our date?" Jane: (with a happy smile) "Fine, one more date and that's all you're getting!" Adam: "Are you serious? I just might've found a treasure chest and you're gonna dump me?" Upon this Jane started laughing with happiness and let herself sink. Adam quickly pulled her back to the surface. They looked at each other with affection. Jane quickly looked up to the cliff. Jane: "My dad has a tow truck. I can bring it here at night. We can pull it up, see what's in it!" Adam: (looked at her happily) "Sounds like a date to me!" They laughed and swam to the beach. It was late night. There was a full moon in the sky. A truck got closer to the cliff. Adam: "Closer, closer, okay stop!" (she stopped the engine and got off the truck) "Did you bring it?" Jane: "This was all we got, I hope it'll be enough." Adam: (looked at the rope) "It'll do." Jane: "Ready?" Adam: "Let's do this." He grabbed the tow cable and slowly climbed down the cliff. A little while later he disappeared inside the water. She anxiously started waiting. A little while later he appeared and yelled. Adam: "Pull it up!" She started the tow's engine and it started to pull the safe. Eventually the boy came to the cliff. A little while later the safe arrived. They pulled it to a safe distance, and stopped the tow engine. He took the construction torch from the back of the truck, and started cutting the steel door. After he's done, they looked at each other. Jane: "Adam?" Adam: "Yeah?" Jane: "I have a bad feeling about this?" Adam: "What do you mean?" Jane: "I don't know.. It's just.." Adam: (quickly went near her and held her shoulders encouragingly) "Hey hey hey! .. What's wrong?" Jane: "It just doesn't feel right." Adam: (quickly looked at the safe) "Do you see that door?" Jane: "Yeah?" Adam: "This thing's clearly been down there for years. And whoever's put it there probably forgotten all about it. Now if it's a treasure, we'll take it, tell no one. If it's a dead body, we call the cops, become heroes. Either way we win!" Upon this she smiled slowly. Jane: (nodded happily) "You're right!" Adam: (he smiled too) "Come on, help me out." They went near the safe, looked at each other once more, then grabbed the knob to finally open the safe. As soon as they opened, Jane gasped. She took a few steps back and closed her mouth with her hands. Adam was shocked too. Clearly, none of them were expecting something like this. Adam: "What the hell is this!" Jane: (in shock) "I'm calling the cops!" She walked to the truck. Meanwhile Adam bent down to take a closer look at the corpse. The moonlight hitting on his face was making him look extra creepy. Suddenly Stefan opened his eyes. Adam jumped back in fear. Adam: "Jesus Chr.. AAAH!!! HOLLY SHIT!!" Jane: (anxiously) "What happened!?" Adam: "I just cut my hand!" Jane: "Let me grab the first aid kit!" As he was panting in fear and pain, little he knew that some of his blood had dropped into Stefan's mouth. Jane quickly arrived, but was surprised to see nobody around. She looked around in confusion. Jane: "Adam?" (no one replied) "Adam where are you?" (still there was no reply. The silence started to bug her) "Adam this isn't funny!" She randomly looked at the safe. But when she saw that it's empty, getting shivers with fear, she dropped the kit and ran back to the truck. But just as she was about to get in, Adam's body, mauled and covered in blood, dropped onto the truck. She screamed in fear, and started running on foot while crying. Suddenly something insanely fast hit her. She flew and hit to a tree. She tried to get back up, but before she could, something grabbed her from her legs and pulled her into the darkness. She was screaming with intense fear. ~ STEFAN'S DIARIES ~ Thomas opened his eyes. It was morning, but he didn't recognize where he is. He slowly raised his head, only to see that he's sharing the bed with a naked girl. He looked at the ceiling in shock. Then he intended to get out of the bed. But after a slight move, she talked. Brooke: "You don't have to sneak out. I already would have if this wasn't my home." (then she turned to Thomas. He clearly did not recognize her) "You don't know me?" Thomas: (shook his head) "I don't even know how I got here. Last night is .." Brooke: "Yeah I don't remember much too. It's all too hazy." Thomas: "I think we were at this party last night. I seem to remember that there was free beer." Brooke: (chuckled) "Yes." (looked at his face) "Well at least I did it with a cute guy. So I wouldn't say this was a total bust!" Thomas: (smiled) "I'm Thomas, by the way." Brooke: (smiled) "I'm Brooke." Thomas: "Really?" Brooke: "Yeah. Why?" Thomas: "My surname is Brook." Brooke: (surprised) "Wait.. You're Thomas Brook? Sheriff's son?" Thomas: (didn't know what to say) "Aaah..." Brooke: (closed his face with her hands in desperation) "Oh my god! I'm so in trouble!" Thomas: "If my dad find out about this, trust me, I'm in much bigger trouble!" Brooke: (removed her hands and looked at him) "Look I'm sure you're a .. really great guy, but .. I'm gonna ask you to leave!" Thomas: (remained silent for a while, then nodded) "You're right." Then he got out of bed, and she hid herself under the blanket completely. April was working on some papers when her phone rang. April: (removed her glasses and answered the call) "April Young. .. Good morning sheriff. .. Uh, no, he's not here. .. What is it? .. Quarry? Okay." (then she saw someone entering the office. It was Thomas) "Your son's here. .. He seems .. (her voice indicated she wasn't going to say something pleasant, but Thomas quickly made a move with his head and hands, asking her not to tell. Upon this she changed her mind) " .. fine(?) .. I'm on my way." (closed the phone. Spoke to Thomas) "He says that'd be a first." Thomas: "Well, he wouldn't be wrong." April: "I'm not sure I wanna know what you've been doing all night." Thomas: "Good, because I'm not gonna talk about it. Going somewhere?" April: "To the quarry. Two bodies were found." Thomas: "And that concerns you because?" April: "They were mauled." Thomas: (looked weirdly for half a second) "What does he suspect, werewolves?" April: "Last night was a full moon." Thomas: "If that's true, it means there's a pack nearby." April: "That's what worries me. I need to know if it's really a werewolf, or just a random animal attack." Thomas: "I lived long enough in Mystic Falls to know nothing is random here." April: "That was when vampires were here. Now things are different." Thomas: (nodded and looked into the office) "So what am I supposed to do here?" April: "Nothing. You're coming with me. You're hungover, I can't trust you with my papers." Thomas: "Good idea." They left the office and went to April's car. Stefan left his victim to the floor. He was in a restaurant like place near the road, and there were many other victims on the floor, most likely other customers. A girl was sitting at a table, shaking in fear, but she wasn't screaming or moving. All jalousies at the windows were closed to prevent sun from getting in. After Stefan killed everyone in the restaurant, he went and sat in front of the girl. She was trying not to look at him. A little while later Stefan cleaned his mouth and spoke. Stefan: "You look scared." Girl: (it took a while before she could say a word. She was still trembling with fear) "You.. killed them!!" Stefan: "Of course I did. I'm a vampire. I always kill." Girl: (looked at him) "Always?" Stefan: (leaned forward with a dangerous smile) "What's your name, sweetheart?" Girl: (after a brief pause) "Anita." Stefan: "Listen to me, Anita. It doesn't matter how many people I kill. This, all this, everything.. It's just happening in my head." Anita: "What?" Stefan: "You and all these people, are products of my imagination. This is not real. None of this is." Anita: "Wh.. No! This is real, this is happening." Stefan: (stood up) "Long ago I was put in a safe underwater. The guy who did this to me is capable of making me think anything." (noticed that Anita was not understanding anything he says) "There was this girl, Elena, hehe.. Love of my life. She became a vampire, I tried to make her human again. So we resurrected this two thousand year old psychic witch, and he turned out to be my doppelganger. And that was the last time I breathed fresh air." (came near her with his vampire speed. She gasped in fear) "Do you have any idea how it feels to try and breath but your lungs are filled with water, so you can't?" Anita: (cried) "Please! Please don't kill me!" Stefan: (sat again) "Oh no, I'm not going to kill you, my sweet Anita. You're the first good thing my mind has created since god knows how long. So I'm going to enjoy every second of this until reality breaks in and darkness returns. And then I'm going to try to remember your face, and I'm going to try to hold on to that." Anita: (in tears) "Look I don't know what's happened to you. And I don't understand anything that's happening here. Believe me, right now I wish to be in one of my worst nightmares, but I'm not. Neither of us are. This is real! You have to believe this!" Stefan looked silently, with an annoyed face. Stefan: "I'm gonna prove you that this is not real." Anita looked in confusion and fear. Suddenly Stefan grabbed the knife on the table and stabbed Anita. She yelped with pain. April and Thomas were near the tow truck at the quarry. Adam's body, which was still on the truck, was frighteningly mauled. Thomas felt like he was going to throw up, but managed to hold himself together. Suddenly they heard a cop's voice. Cop: "Detective Young!" April rushed near him, and saw a headless body, which seemed to be of a girl. She looked at the body, then spoke to the cop. April: "We'll take it from here." Cop nodded and left. After he disappeared, April bent down to see the neck. Thomas: (the vision has made him kind of sick) "Do I wanna know where's the head?" (April's looks changed after seeing some marks on the neck) "If you ask me, I don't think this is a werewolf!" April: (stood up slowly) "It's not." (in shock) "This can't be!" Thomas: "What can't be?" April: (turned to him) "Years ago I've heard stories about this particular vampire. He refused drinking human blood for so long that when he finally tasted it, he couldn't control himself, and ravaged an entire village. They called him the ripper." Thomas: "Ripper?" April: "When he fed he was so out of control that he ended up ripping his victims apart. So if he fed on the arm, the victim lost their arms, if he fed on the neck.." April didn't complete the sentence, but Thomas understood her anyway. In shock, he looked at the body. Thomas: "No! This is .. This .. This can't be true!" April: "Bite marks on the neck are distinctive. This was made by a vampire. And not just any vampire, a ripper!" Thomas: "That is impossible! Vampires are extinct, for more than a decade!" April: "I know that. But I'm as sure that this is a vampire's doing as I'm sure of my name." Thomas: "There's gotta be something we're missing." April: "Yeah, a head!" Thomas: (feeling nauseous) "Don't!" April: "You go back to the car and download a map of this area. The vampire will need a hiding spot until sunset, that's how long we have to find it." Thomas: (nodded) "Okay." He turned around and walked away. April continued looking around. Anita's stomach was bleeding, and she was passing out. Stefan seemed to have a sadistic joy from it. Anita: (with a weak voice) "You said.. you wouldn't hurt me!" Stefan: "You're right, I said that." Anita: "I'm.. I can't.." Stefan: "Shh. Be quiet." Anita: "It hurts!" Stefan: "Hmm." (Anita tried to look at him, but her pain was so much that she could barely keep her head up) "That's weird." (stood up and sat near her) "I think I can't cheat my way out of this." (he bit his wrist to bleed some of his blood, then took his bleeding wrist to Anita's mouth) "Drink." (She oddly looked at him) "It'll heal you." Anita held his wrist and started drinking the blood. As she was drinking, Stefan pulled the knife out of her stomach. She made a sharp move with pain, but slowly calmed down and stopped drinking. Stefan took his arm back. Anita looked at him weirdly, then checked her stomach to make sure. Indeed the pain was gone, and she was fully healed. She anxiously took her hand to her mouth. Anita: "Is this blood going to change me?" Stefan: (got up and stood among the dead bodies on the floor) "No, the process is much more complex than that." Anita: (after a brief hesitation) "Look I know you think this is all part of your imagination. But it's not. You told me this man put you in a safe. I don't know how, but you've made it out." (Stefan fiercely looked at her) "If all this was in your head, you should've been able to heal me, or make the sun go away, or make these bodies disappear. But you can't. You have to realize! This is real!" Upon this Stefan looked around in shock. He seemed to have hard time accepting, but he clearly started to believe. April quickly went to the officer near the tow truck. April: "Officer!" (he looked at her. She came near him) "I'm done here, you can take the body to morgue." Officer: "What should we write for the cause?" April: "Animal attack." (officer nervously nodded. April showed a direction with her hand) "Do you know if there's anything at this direction?" Officer: (looked where she was pointing, then looked around to determine directions) "That is.. Um.. No, nothing important. Just a small restaurant, if I'm not mistaken." Upon this April started running anxiously. In no time she got out of the woods and reached the car. Thomas looked at her worriedly. Immediately she got in and started the car. Thomas: "WiFi was dead, I couldn't.. What's going on?" April: "I know where the vampire is." Thomas: "Where?" April: "At a restaurant on the way to Mystic Falls!" Thomas: (in shock) "What?" (April looked at him) "I know that restaurant! My sister works there!" April: "Oh my god!" She hit the pedal harder. Stefan looked around in shock. He was finally starting to accept. Stefan: "I'm really out?" Anita: "Yes!" Stefan: (looked at the bodies) "What have I done!" Anita stood up slowly when Stefan's back was turned. But before she could attempt running, Stefan rushed to her with his super-speed. Stefan: "I have to get out of here!" (Anita looked at him in fear) "Do you have a car?" Anita: "I d.. I don't!" Stefan: (looked at the dead bodies, then looked at Anita and compelled her) "One of them must have a car key. Get one, and get me out of here!" Anita nodded and began searching the bodies. She found a car key in no time. She ran outside, and went near a rather old pickup truck. She started the engine. But suddenly someone grabbed her arm from the open window. She screamed. But the person quickly showed himself. It was Thomas. Thomas: "Shh, Ani! It's me! It's me!" Anita: "Thomas!?" Thomas opened the door and led Anita out. She got out in confusion. April was near him. Thomas: "What're you doing, whose truck is this?" Anita: "There's a man inside, I have to get him out of there!" April: "She's compelled!" (quickly took her gun out and gave the car keys to Thomas) "Take the car, get her home!" Thomas: (took the keys) "What're you gonna do?" April: "I'm going after the man." Thomas: "Be careful." April "I will." Thomas quickly took Anita to April's car, while April headed to the restaurant's backdoor. She opened it and went inside carefully. She quickly arrived near the bodies, but nobody was there. Then she noticed that one of the tables didn't have table cloth, and the front door was half open. Understanding that the vampire has ran with a table cloth to protect himself from the sun, she loaded her gun and started following. It was towards the sunset, or sun had just set. The sky had begun getting darker. Anita was sitting on her couch, breathing fast in confusion and shock. Eventually Thomas came with a cup of tea. Thomas: "Here, drink this." Anita: (smelled) "What is this?" Thomas: "It's vervain tea, it'll clear your mind." Anita: "I'm not sure I want it cleared. I remember bits and pieces. There was a man, and .. he killed everyone!" Her voice got cracked with the last word. Thomas: "Hey, hey, it's okay. You're safe now." Suddenly the front door opened and a cop walked in. He seemed anxious, but kind of relieved when he saw Anita. Brad: "Ani!" She looked at the door, and stood up in excitement and relief. Anita: "Brad!" They hugged and kissed each other. Brad: "I was so worried when your brother called me." (held her from her shoulders) "Are you okay?" Anita: "I don't know what happened, Brad. I'm.. I'm trying, but I just can't remember anything. The more I try to remember, the more I forget." As they sat on the couch, Thomas looked down. He seemed to understand what was going on, but he didn't say a word. Brad: "It's okay. The only important thing is that you're safe." Anita: (weakly) "Does my dad know?" Thomas: "Listen, um. I have to go. Got some things to.. take care of." Brad: (looked at him) "It's okay, I'll be here. I'll call you if something happens." Thomas: (nodded) "Good to see you Brad." Brad: "You too, Tom!" Thomas turned around and walked away. He looked furious. Sun had finally gone down. Stefan was walking on a street, still the table cloth wrapped around his body. Soon he arrived to the Salvatore mansion. Lights were on, indicating someone was in there. Excited to meet his brother, he slowly murmured "Damon" and headed to the door. But he wasn't able to get to the door knob, as if he wasn't invited in. Then he listened the house with his vampire hearing. It sounded like a family was about to have dinner. He went to the window to see the inside, and saw a man, the father, and a boy who looked not older than nine. The wife's back was turned to him and he couldn't see her face. Then she disappeared behind the wall. Not sure what he's supposed to do, he walked away. This time he seemed to be headed to Elena's home. But before he could arrive, he heard a strict female voice from behind. April: "Stop!" (Stefan stopped) "Show me your hands!" (Stefan raised his hands slowly, and dropped the table cloth while doing so. Then slowly turned to April. As soon as she saw his face, she looked at him in shock) "Silas!" Stefan: (with a faded voice) "Silas?" Suddenly he lost himself. He showed his fangs and vampire veins, and loudly attacked April. But she was quick enough to fire back just in time. Stefan fell near her feet and started writhing and groaning in pain. April looked around in confusion and shock. When Stefan woke up, it was morning. He seemed to be in a sofa, and sun was hitting on the floor boards, blinding his eyes so bad. He straightened and saw a man, Thomas, standing bravely with an annoying smile on his face. Stefan: "Who are you?" Thomas: "I'm Thomas." Stefan: (stood up and faced Thomas) "Okay Thomas, wanna put that thing down?" Thomas looked at the stake thrower at his hand. Then looked at Stefan. Thomas: "No. It kinda.. completes me." Stefan: (smiled) "You think you're a tough guy? Do you have any idea how many people I've wasted?" Thomas: "I do actually. You're the ripper of Monterey. Quite an interesting tale. Except they don't know your name. But I do. You're Stefan Salvatore." Upon this Stefan's looks changed. Stefan: "How do you know me?" Thomas: "Did you know that Salvatore means salvation? Of course you do. It's your surname. But you don't deserve that name!" With a quick move, he aimed the stake gun to Stefan's chest. Stefan: "Try it and you're dead." Suddenly they heard a voice. April: "Thomas!" (She seemed to have just gotten in. Thomas stopped upon hearing her, but didn't lower the gun) "What're you doing?" Thomas: "Exactly what I should do." April: "Thomas? Put that thing down now!" Thomas: (with a sharp move he lowered the gun and turned to April) "Do you know what he did to my sister? She keeps having nightmares because of him." April: "Your sister's gonna be fine. But I need him." Thomas: "I don't know what you plan on achieving by keeping him alive. He's a vampire!" April: "And alive, if you take my meaning." Then Thomas noticed that April was waiting her hand open, expecting him to hand over the gun. He hesitated for a while. Then gave it. Thomas: "I'll be outside." He walked out angrily. After he closed the door, she and Stefan looked at each other. Stefan: "You look familiar." April "I shot you last night." Stefan: (nodded) "I remember. Exactly right after you called me Silas." April: "Then you called me Silas, and attacked me. Kinda had to defend myself." Stefan: "So tell me, exactly what it is right now that's stopping me from killing you?" April: "I never said you're not free to try." Upon this Stefan attacked her with his super speed. But just a few inches away from her, he hit an invisible wall and he's forced to stop. April was looking at him with a naughty smile. Stefan: "Witch!" April: "What? No, I'm not a witch. Wish I was." (turned around and walked a little far from him. Then leaned next to the window) "It's actually pretty simple. The cottage you're standing in right now belonged to my father, until he blew it up. I had it restored, but then realized it was too small for my work, so I built this new one right next to it. That part, belonged to my father and since he's dead, you're able to enter there. But here, belongs to me, and until you're invited in, you can't come here." Stefan: "I'm assuming you're wearing vervain too." (April smiled, practically confirming) "Alright. So if I can't come in, what's stopping me from getting out?" April: (looked surprised to hear this) "You can't. You don't have a daylight ring." (upon this Stefan quickly checked his finger, and seemed shocked to see it empty) "To be clear I was a bit surprised. Last I saw you you had one." Stefan: "Silas! He must have taken it before he put me in the safe!" April: (straightened and took a few steps towards Stefan. She looked genuinely surprised) "You were in that safe? Silas put you in it?" (Stefan didn't say anything. He just coldly looked at her. But she understood anyway) "Oh my god! Well that explains a lot of things. Like this crappy look, or where you've been all this time." Stefan: "You didn't know?" April: "Well how could I have known? We thought that you just left!" Stefan: "We?" (a brief silence took place) "You seem to know a lot of things. Including who I am. Yet I have no idea who you are." April: "You don't remember me, do you?" Stefan: "To be honest, I don't have much faces left in my memory, except my own, because it also belongs to my mortal enemy." April: "Silas." Stefan: "Who are you?" April: "I'm April." Stefan: (looked at her for a while in confusion. Then spoke weakly) "Young?" (she nodded with a smile) "You look.." April: "Older? Yeah!" Stefan: (in a weak effort to grasp how much time has passed) "How long was I in that safe?" April: "What is the last date you remember?" Stefan: "May 2011, graduation day." (upon this her face changed badly. Clearly she was aware he'd be devastated to hear the answer) "What, what is it?" April looked at him. He needed to know anyway. She spoke hesitantly. April: "Twelve years, Stefan!" (Stefan looked shocked) "It's 2023 now!" Suddenly Stefan remembered how he felt when he was first thrown into the water. How he was struggling for air, hitting the door helplessly. Images flashed through his mind, reminding him of many things. Unable to stand up anymore, he fell down to the floor and started panting in shock and despair. April knelt to get to the same level with him. Stefan: (desperately) "Damon! I need to see Damon! Where's Damon, I need to see Elena!!" April: (sadly) "You can't! They're dead." (Stefan looked at her numbly) "They were killed almost at the same time." (stood up) "And not just them. Caroline, Tyler, Matt.. They all died!" Stefan was numbly looking at her. It was clear that he was too shocked to even react properly.
