Bringing the Rain is the nineteenth episode in Season 4 and 85th overall.

Stefan took he girls back to their home, and Damon, Gary and Christian are walking on the wreck, not knowing what they hope to find. While wandering around, Christian says this place is wrecked. Damon says he is too funny. After a while, Gary raises a block, and sees a completely burned body of a girl. Damon and Christian go near him over his reaction. Damon looks at the body and says this is what she deserved. Christian and Gary look at him weirdly. Damon says she was with the enemy, she deserved this. Christian says she was tricked, fooled. Even he must have been fooled once or twice in 170 years. So he should show some respect. Damon says whatever. Then grabs the body and tells the others he got this. Christian and Gary are looking at him. Damon tells them not to worry, because Elena would kill him if he disposes the body without a funeral. Gary cannot help his smile and says he is glad that there is someone out there who can actually put Damon to his place. Christian cannot help his smile too and tells Damon that he is such a dick. As they walk away, Damon looks at the completely burned body with hatred, then he starts walking too. It's Friday morning. Elena and June just came home after Bonnie's coffin is buried and the funeral is over. Matt appears near the door and Elena her if she is going to be okay. Elena tries to smile and says she needs to get used to this, because she will live forever and everyone she loves will die eventually. Matt tries to smile too and says she is right. Then tells her not to turn off her emotions again. Elena says she won't, and Matt leaves after they say goodbye to each other. After a while June hugs Elena, and Elena hugs her. Stefan enters the Salvatore house and sees Damon near the bar, putting himself a drink. He gets mad to Damon for not being at the funeral. Damon says he doesn't feel sorry for Bonnie, so he couldn't have just gone and pretended to be sad. Stefan says he didn't need to pretend. He should have been there at least to show some respect. Damon says he's not gonna show any respect to someone who almost got him killed. Stefan yells him that Bonnie saved his life. Damon gets confused. Stefan says one second before the house exploded, Bonnie threw him out and saved his life. Damon is surprised. Stefan asks him if he doesn't appreciate this, and goes to his room. Tyler is with Caroline, who is in her room, preparing for school. Tyler offers her to skip school. Caroline says she can't. Tyler asks why. Caroline tells him to come on, it's only 2 days until school ends, she can't bail on it now. Tyler smiles, and asks what is the point of graduation. She won't need a job, she won't need normal human things. She can compell anyone if she needs anything, and live however she likes to live. Caroline smiles and tells him to be patient. After these two days, she is all his. Together. Tyler says always and forever. Caroline feels disturbed, and says she doesn't like it when he mentions that freak Klaus and his evil blood slut sister. Tyler feels disturbed this time, and tries not to give it away. He says he'd better get going, and sarcastically adds she should go to school. Caroline turns to him. Smiles and says this is important to her. Tyler doesn't say anything, but smiles. His facial expression indicates that he doesn't really care. Then he walks away. Caroline smiles too, then grabs her bag and goes out of her room. Elena tells June to get ready for school. June says she doesn't want to go to school today. Elena says she doesn't too, but it's only today and tomorrow, then the year will end, and they will have the whole summer to themselves. June reluctantly agrees. Then tells Elena maybe the can go to a vacation afterwards. Elena asks where she would like to go. June says she doesn't know. But somewhere with beach and sun, where the sea is clear and there is no wave could be nice. But it doesn't really matter. Anywhere but this town could work. Elena smiles and says it's not even a month she spent here and she already wants to go away. June smiles too and says they could take Jeremy with them. All together they could make a nice holiday. She can even block Elena's vampire powers as much as she can to make it as human as possible for Elena. Elena says sounds fascinating. June adds she doesn't think she can get along with him. Elena finds this weird, and asks why. June says because she fancies vampires, but Jeremy hates them. They both laugh, and Elena tells her to get ready. Meanwhile in the forest, Misao is looking for something with Natalie's phantom near her. Misao: "Aren't you guys able to sense each other? Go find the other phantom!" (Phantom just makes an eery noise, which annoys Misao) "I should destroy you now. Useless piece of crap!" (Phantom makes another eery noise. Misao angrily yells) "Stop making this noise or I will burn you!" Phantom gets silent, but it is still making weird noises, even though silently. After wandering around in the forest a little more while, Misao suddenly hears a sound from somewhere else. Although she couldn't see, she understands from the noise that it is the other phantom. She instantly gets excited. The other phantom runs around for a while, then the noise is suddenly lost. Misao looks around for a while. Then suddenly with some kind of instinct, she jumps forward. Instantly, the phantom blows up the ground and gets out. But before Misao thinks she is safe, the phantom's remaining side under ground gets out of the ground while blowing up where Misao is now. As a result Misao crashes to a tree and falls to the ground. The phantom then attacks Misao, but she acts faster and dodges its attack by jumping to a branch of the tree. Then by using her magic, she slams the phantom first to the ground, then to another tree. The phantom is staggered. Misao then jumps down, and tells the phantom to obey. The phantom calms down, and stops making noises. Misao smiles and says "That's more like it". Damon goes to hospital to see Meredith. He can't find her in her office and asks a random doctor about her. The doctor replies Meredith left early today. Upon this he calls her. Damon: "Meredith.." Meredith: (in the car) "Damon, I was actually coming to see you." Damon: "Where are you." Meredith: "Almost there, I'll be there in 5." Damon: "I'm not at home." Meredith: "What?" Damon: "Never mind, I'm coming too." Meredith: "Where are you?" Damon: "Hospital, entrance, and now outside." Meredith: (smiles) "Haha, I bet you can't make it to home before me!" Damon: "It's daylight, Meredith. People might see me." Meredith: "So you're making excuses!" Damon: "Never mind! See you in 4." Meredith smiles and ends the call. Damon, smiles too, and rushes before anyone can see him.
When they walk in, everyone stare at them. Damon, Stefan, Caroline, Meredith, and Christian are there. Damon slowly looks at Christian. Christian: "It's okay. This is Elena and June." Elena: (feels a little disturbed) "What's going on?" Meredith: "We might have a problem." Elena: "What kind of a problem?" Damon: "Hot, red haired, Japanese." Elena: "Misao?" Meredith: "I suspect Misao is up to something with the phantoms. She tricked Bonnie to gain control of them. But for what? A phantom has to feed on human spirits, otherwise they die after a couple of days." Christian: "It's been three days since Misao gained control of Natalie's phantom. Considering David's phantom didn't make any kills either, we have to assume that she got him under her control too. But the worst is, so far there were no deaths." Elena: "I don't understand how this is the worst." Caroline: "Elena, do you think Misao took the control of phantoms to do a favor to earth?" Elena: (after thinking for a while, suddenly gets the idea) "Oh my god!" June: (she understood too) "She is starving them to death?" Stefan: "She is making phantoms crave with hunger. I know that feeling very good and so what will happen if she releases them on a certain target," (looking at June) "for example someone she wants to kill. They will attack with rage!" Meredith: "And we fear we may not be able to stop them, because we don't know what a phantom at that point would be capable of!" Elena: "So what are you suggesting?" Meredith: "I don't know. I just wanted to warn you." Elena: "Well, nice job freaking us out!" Damon: " If Misao wants June, why can't they just run? Two or three days. The phantom will die, and all is well." Christian: "If Misao realizes June was taken away, first thing she will do is releasing the phantoms on this town, so that they won't die. And we all know how that ended. Lots of people died, despite us." Elena: "So the best thing to do is to fight back." Damon: "Yea, fight fire with fire. If she plays dirty, we play nasty!" They don't really seem to like the idea, but they all agree.
Elena knocks Matt's door. Matt shows up, and opens the door. Elena: "Hi" (walks inside. While Matt is closing the door) "Are you okay?" (Matt shakes his head, meaning 'no') "How are you feeling?" Matt: "I feel mess. Do I look mess?" Elena: "Yea, you look mess." Matt: (looks down) "She was going to revive Sue." Elena: "What?" Matt: "Bonnie. She told me she found a way, and she would revive Sue and Antonio. That's probably why she was with Misao." Elena: (only now understands what Bonnie meant 'We had a deal'. In shock) "Oh my god!" Matt: "She did it because of what I said her at prom." Elena: (realizes that Matt is accusing himself for Bonnie's death) "Oh no! It wasn't because of you, Matt! Misao lied to her. She tricked her." Matt: "But why did she fall for that lie? She became desperate because of what I said to her!" Elena: "No!" Matt: "She became vulnerable, and she was killed because of me!" Elena: "You know this is not true, Matt! None of us was able to understand her when Antonio was killed. And Misao took advantage of her." Matt: "I yelled her 'Selfish bitch', Elena!" Elena: "But then you apologized!" Matt: "It's not helping! Do you see why I want to leave? Because the longer we stay here, the more people we love will die. I want to leave here behind. You should too. And others. This place is like a magnet for troubles. We deserve better." (Elena remains silent. Then Matt sits on the couch) "Tomorrow I'm leaving." Elena: "Caroline and Tyler are leaving too." Matt: "What about you and June?" Elena: "I don't know what I am supposed to do. I mean, she's too young, and I can't abandon her. But only in 5 years, she will be same age with me, and.." Matt: "It sounds freaky." Elena: "Hmph." (sits near Matt) "Yeah. Freaky is the word." (Matt smiles. Elena looks at him.) Listen, Matt. We need to talk." Matt looks at her weirdly.
Meanwhile in the forest, two phantoms are flying with an incredible speed while making eery noises. Damon starts feeling something is not right. He looks at June. She understands that he felt something bad, and quietens. Damon walks out of his room and sees Stefan. He is looking around curiously. They ask each other if they felt the same thing. Meanwhile the phantoms see the Salvatore house between the trees, and start flying straight. Damon looks freaked, and says he knows this noise. Elena runs out of the room too. She looks at Damon. Suddenly the wall behind him explodes and one of the phantoms gets in. As the phantom gets out crashing another wall, they hear the same noises from downstairs. The house starts shaking. Stefan yells that they are wreaking the house. Damon yells as hard as he can and tells everyone to get out. He intends to run back inside the room to take June, but a phantom breaks the floor while going up and Damon crashes the roof and blacks out. June screams inside the room. Matt opens a door that opens to her room from his, and yells her to come with him. June starts running in the nick of time because as soon as she runs a phantom breaks the roof and floor. Matt grabs her arm and they start running. Elena is yelling at the corridor, where is June. At that second Matt opens the door. Elena sees them but before she can run to them, the wall near her explodes and Elena hits to the other wall too hard. June yells Elena's name, but Matt doesn't leave her and forces her to run with him. They suddenly hear an eery noise, and the roof breaks but instantly they hear Christian's voice, "Wings of protection", and the broken pieces of the roof stops above them. They look behind and Christian yells them to run, which they do so. Finally they reach the stairs, but it is broken. Stefan yells from downstairs to throw June to him. He slowly leaves June, and Stefan catches her. Gary is running to June and Stefan, at the same time yelling them to run. A phantom is breaking the ceiling and walls behind him. He yells again and tells them to run now. Stefan grabs June and runs out of the house with his vampire speed. Gary calls his wings and starts flying. He grabs Matt who is still at the upper floor, and flies outside from a hole at the roof. Stefan stops outside the house. First Meredith lands near him, then Gary with Matt. Stefan looks around and asks where are the others. Gary says Chris, Elena and Damon were unconscious inside the house. Meredith yells Christian's name and intends to run to the house, but Stefan stops her, because a phantom is destroying whatever has left from the house. Suddenly the floor under them explodes and the other phantom gets out with an eery noise. Meanwhile the Salvatore house is completely destroyed and the other phantom starts flying to them rapidly. Gary catches June before she hits the ground. And Stefan attacks the phantom, hoping that he could hurt it like Elena did before. But the phantom stretches its tail, grabs Stefan from his neck and slams him to the ground as hard as it can. Stefan immediately blacks out. Meredith gets up and calls her wings of destruction. The phantom explodes, but Meredith falls on one knee, exhausted. Suddenly the other phantom arrives and looks at June. June yells she can't move. Gary immediately gets between June and the phantom. June breaks free of the phantom's hold, but she collapses. Seeing that Gary is sacrificing himself, Meredith yells with pain. Gary looks in the face of the phantom, and with the last of his power, yells "Wings of destruction". His snow white wings appear, and as he waves them, the phantom explodes. But due to the power that his wings draw, he drops to the floor. Matt runs near him, but shakes his head with sadness. Meredith starts crying her eyes out. Stefan is walking on the ruins of his house. Suddenly a pile of wood starts moving, and Elena gets out of it. Stefan grabs her hand and they hug each other. Together they find Damon and Christian in no time. They both are conscious and fine, but they are too weak to move on their own. Meredith runs near her brother. Elena leaves him to her, then looks at June and goes near her. June breaks down and cries while hugging Elena. They hear Matt's voice, who is still near Gary. He says they all know what this means. Christian looks down, shocked to learn Gary is dead. Meredith hugs her brother and says it's going to be okay. Then they leave. After they are gone, Stefan asks Elena if it would be cool if they stayed with her tonight. Elena says of course. Matt says he's going home. Elena offers to ride him, which he refuses. He wants to walk. Elena nods. Stefan tells Elena to go with June. He has been saving some money in a box and he needs to find it. Before walking, Matt asks if any of them need blood, because their fridge of blood bag is now under the ruins. Stefan looks at Damon. Damon says he'll be fine. Stefan looks at Matt and tells him to go before he changes his mind. They all smile, and Matt starts jogging to his home. It's almost darkness. The sky is not light, but it's around the times that no light is necessary yet. Elena and June are having dinner quietly. Suddenly the rain starts outside. June weirdly looks outside. June: "Elena?" Elena: (she is looking outside too) "I felt it too!" June: (confused, looks at Elena) "You felt it too?" Elena doesn't reply, but she gets up and starts walking to the door. She opens it, but there is no one. She looks at June, who is looking at her still confused. Meanwhile Caroline walks near her window and looks at the rain weirdly. Apparently she felt the same thing too. Stefan and Damon, who are on the ruins of their house, look around and then each other. Stefan: "Did you feel that?" Damon: "What the hell was that?" At that time, the earth on Bonnie's grave starts moving. Elena walks outside. June follows her. They are walking under rain, but they clearly don't care about that. Matt, who just arrived home, feels that thing too, and looks outside. After having a moment of confusion, he grabs his raincoat and runs back outside. Stefan and Damon leave whatever they are doing, and they start walking too. Tyler walks out of the cave. He weirdly looks at the sky while rain is dropping on his face. The earth on Bonnie's grave is muddy but it is still moving. Suddenly a hand gets out of the earth. Elena starts running, not with her vampire speed. June is running too, while yelling Elena to wait. Matt started running too. Caroline walks outside her house, and after looking around trying to understand what is going on, she starts walking too. Tyler goes up the stairs, and he starts walking too, after looking around for a while. At Bonnie's grave, there are two arms now. After some effort, suddenly Bonnie appears, crawling out of the ground. After she gets out completely, she lays on the ground while the rain is dropping on her face, cleaning the mud. She remembers Emily, speaking to her. Emily: "The spirits do not appreciate what you have been doing. But even though in the last second of your life, you understood the worth of what you are. That is why I preserved your body. I never got a second chance Bonnie. But now you have the chance to fix what you've done. Go out there and make me proud!" Bonnie starts laughing with an incredible happiness. She slowly gets up and starts walking. At that time Elena arrives to the graveyard. They see and run to each other happily. Seeing that Bonnie is alive, June screams with happiness. They hug each other. Elena tells she felt her. How can she be alive. Bonnie replies Emily preserved her body. Elena looks at her friend, and tells her no never betray them again. Bonnie says ever. Caroline arrives too, and runs near them. June and Caroline hug Bonnie too. They are very happy. Stefan and Damon arrive too. They arrive at the same time with Matt. Stefan looks at Matt, who saw that Bonnie is alive. Both are surprised happily, and run near Bonnie. Damon is still confused, and stays still for a moment. He sees Tyler, and they look at each other. Then Tyler walks near Bonnie, and finally Damon walks too. There is an unexplainable fun at the graveyard. They are all cheering happily. But when Bonnie sees Damon, she gets silent, not knowing what to say to him. She intends to say she is sorry, but Damon interrupts and thanks her, for saving his life. They look each other for a while and both smile. And all of them start walking away. Meanwhile Misao can be seen, hiding behind the bushes. She saw that Bonnie revived too. She freaks and looks angrily at Bonnie and her friends. Then shapeshifts into a bird and starts flying away. |
